This Privacy Policy describes how SelectAI (the “Extension”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and discloses information when you install or use the SelectAI Chrome extension. SelectAI enables users to select text on web pages and apply AI-powered transformations (for example: summarization, tone adjustment, and explanation). The Extension is designed to limit collection and retention of user information.
The Extension stores only what is required to function:
If you configure and use an external AI provider via an API key you supply, selected text, prompts, and instructions will be transmitted directly to that provider’s API to perform the operation you requested. All communications occur over HTTPS. The handling, retention, and processing of that data are governed by the external provider’s privacy policy and terms of service.
When you enter an API key, SelectAI uses a Cloudflare Worker to perform encryption and decryption operations in memory only. Cloudflare does not persist your raw API key. After encryption, the encrypted key material is stored only in your local browser storage. Decryption occurs only when needed and only in memory.
SelectAI does not have access to your raw API keys and does not store them on any remote server.
Data retained locally is used exclusively to:
The Extension does not use your data for analytics, advertising, monitoring, profiling, or any secondary purpose.
All network communication between the Extension, Cloudflare Workers, and your chosen AI provider is conducted over secure HTTPS (TLS) connections to protect data in transit. This includes selected text, API keys during transit, and any other user-provided content transmitted for processing.
All data created or stored by the Extension (including encrypted API keys and local settings) remains on your device and is retained until you remove it by one of the following actions:
We retain no server-side data.
When you choose to use an external AI provider, the provider receives only the content you intentionally send. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with that provider’s terms of service and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or security measures of third-party providers.

Despite these measures, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your API keys and device.
SelectAI is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to SelectAI, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to remove that information.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA. Because SelectAI stores only minimal data locally, many privacy rights can be exercised directly through your browser (for example, deleting local extension data or uninstalling the Extension). Data you transmit to an external AI provider may be processed or stored in jurisdictions outside your country. Such transfers are governed by the external provider’s policies and applicable law.
This affirmation is provided to satisfy Chrome Web Store policy requirements and will be linked from the Extension’s listing and related documentation where applicable.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will publish the updated policy here and update the effective date. Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
